After
Jason
/ Tod / Chris
Origin- Will Build To Suit is actually a rebound off of
another, shorter-lived project known as Glacier Blue Hills. It included
the three of us as well as our friend Kenny from Hobbledehoy. We put seven
songs together in the span of two months, but Kenny had become the bass player
for another band at the same time, called Since by Man. After a brief
stint of playing in both bands, Kenny decided to devote his energy solely to
Since by Man. At that point the Glacier Blue Hills songs we had written
were dependant on two guitars, and rather than attempting to learn the parts and
reteach them to another guitarist, we opted to start over as a three
piece. The first song we did was a song that I had written before Glacier
Blue Hills had ever been conceived, a song called Draining the Pool.
The Name- We
struggled for a while with what to call ourselves. We decided not to stay
with Glacier Blue Hills because the name came from a story which Kenny was the
only one who it had anything to do with, and since he was no longer in the band,
we felt it didn't really apply. It's increasingly difficult to find a name
that is both original and liked by all the members. Will Build To Suit
comes from a bill board ad that Chris had seen. He wrote it down on a list
of other words and phrases that he liked as names. Jason and I looked at
the list and it jumped out at both of us. Most people who have talked to
me about the name don't like it, and that's probably part of the reason I
do. To me, will build to suit is kind of the theme of individuals in our
nation. Too many people are going to jobs they hate, leading lives they
hate, and doing things they hate because their expected to do so.
Will Build To Suit, to me, is really the anti-theme of our music.
